

This sport of ages consists of two brave participants astride steeds which they proceed to guide wih utmost tenacity and determination down towards their opponent. The participants are often separated by a length of fencing or posts. The object of the game is to knock the rider from his mount or break his shield.
This sport became popular during the medieval era after the use of cavalry became more prominent and in which the ever familiar concept and image of the knight in shining armor arose. The sport was that of nobles and rich men since only they could afford the horse and equpment needed. It was a game of honor and sheer manliness since injury was common and sometimes lethal. King Henry the VIII has been noted as partaking of the sport and fearing for his life after a rather seriuos injury recieved during the game.
